Altair is a 5 acre regeneration site located adjacent to Altrinchams transport interchange in close proximity to the town centre.

Nikal secured the site through a developer competition in 2006 and under the terms of their development agreement with Trafford Borough Council secured an outline planning application in March 2008.

A revised planning application will be submitted on the Altair development in September this year (2009). The new proposals reduce the scale and massing in response to our long running consultation exercise as well as responding to a variety of occupier requirements that have now been secured.

Our vision remains the same, to develop a 21st Century environment that respects Altrinchams historic market town roots.

The project will deliver over 2000 jobs to the local economy together with significant public landscaped squares and a new source of green energy for the town. We aim to deliver high quality office space to meet the demand of new and established businesses that would otherwise be lost to the town, together with a high quality hotel, luxury retail and restaurants, 600 public parking spaces and of course a new permanent ice rink.

Nikal were instrumental in delivering the temporary facility and Manchester Phoenix to Altrincham. The rink is trading successfully and has established that it is both viable and sustainable, ensuring its future in Altrincham for many years to come.

We aim to be on site with the first phase of the development by Early Spring 2011 with the first phase open to the public by Summer 2012.
